High School Youth Ministry

Welcome to the St. Thomas More (STM) High School Youth Ministry Website! At STM, the High School Youth Ministry Program supports families in the continuing religious formation and spiritual growth of our high school youth. Our goal is to equip high school students with the lifelong tools to live as disciples who form other disciples.

Who should attend high school youth group?

Students in grades 9-12 are invited to attend our weekly meetings to grow in their Catholic faith, meet other teens, and have a lot of fun! Please check out one of our meetings and feel free to bring friends!

When does high school youth group meet?

High school youth group meets in More Hall from 6-8pm on Sunday evenings throughout the school year.

What happens at Youth Group?

Each week, we discuss different topics about our Catholic faith and explore how to live out our faith in our daily lives. Meetings consist of a variety of activities, including games, talks, small group discussions, video clips, differents types of prayer, music, and much more! Our goal is to create a welcoming, inclusive, fun environment where each person has the opportunity to learn and grow in his or her relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.

What are small groups?

Small groups consist of smaller gatherings of high school students led by one of the CORE Team. Small groups meet during youth group to discuss the topic for the night. There are also a few nights during the year that small groups meet outside of church to talk about various subjects. The purpose of small groups is to nurture Christ-centered relationships among teenagers.

What is CORE team?

Our CORE team (Catechist of Religious Education) consists of adults and college students who are passionate about their Catholic faith and are committed to walking with high school students on their faith journeys. Our CORE team leads small group discussions, develops positive relationships with teens, and prays for our teens. If you are an adult interested in joining our CORE team, please contact Ginny at youthmin@stmva.org.

What are Sunday dinners?

Each youth group meeting begins with dinner at 6pm provided by youth ministry families. More information about Sunday dinners can be accessed here.
